5th Anniversary Celebration Concludes with Pro Bono Announcement

Today, DFC’s 5th anniversary celebration culminated in the announcement that pro bono services have been awarded to the Major Stuart Adam Wolfer Institute (MSAWI), a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.

To give thanks by giving back, DFC expanded its GIVE program (Get Involved for Veterans) to five projects in November to celebrate five years in business. The first project supported Food for Others, Northern Virginia’s largest distributor of free food directly to people in need; food and monetary donations resulted in approximately 160 pounds of donated food. The second project provided volunteer support to the Concert for Valor held on the national mall on Veterans Day; 12 DFC employees volunteered over 47 hours at the event. The third project raised funds for the Aleethia Foundation, an organization that supports newly injured service members in their rehabilitation and healing process; donations from DFC, happy hour participants, and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse totaled $3000. The fourth project provided holiday messages of appreciation to military service members and Veterans; more than 200 cards hand-written by DFC employees were delivered to the troops via AMillionThanks.org.

Rounding out these efforts, the fifth project, known as the ‘GIVE It Away’ contest, will provide pro bono services to a non-profit that support Veterans.

The winning organization, MSAWI, carries on the work of U.S. Army Maj. Stuart Wolfer who was killed on April 6, 2008, while deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. MSAWI was established so that Stu’s legacy of leadership, commitment to country, and community service inspires future generations of children, adults, and leaders through educational, patriotic, and support-the-troops events. Over the next year, DFC will provide MSAWI with professional marketing and communication services.
